Aunt Martha's 3623 - Mermaid Tea Towel

The mermaids were in a batch of transfers I scored on Ebay, and these, along with a Mexican themed pattern, seem to be the oldest of the lot. I'm not big on mermaids myself, but these are adorable, especially the cute, cartoony way they're rendered. :)
There are 7 patterns of the mermaid doing cutesy things like baiting a hook, frolicking with a seagull, and looking really pissed off when she's caught in a fishing net. In addition, there's a pattern for a fish-shaped potholder and the days of the week in cursive lettering.

Thank you so much for creating this new blog for your transfers, Debrorah - I am thoroughly enjoying looking at them all. Love these mermaids in particular! As you point out, they are more of a cartoon nature, but as a subject, they are still very rare. You've given me food for thought here; I also have heaps of transfers. Should I also start a new blog for them? Or could we link up and share somehow? I have noticed some blogs are shared by a few people, do you know how that works?
Thanks Gina! I thought about sharing a freebie of the Aunt Martha's, but I've read on numerous message boards that their current owners are very rigorous in terms of copyright on their images...
Oh - I'd love to see your transfers on a blog, too! Blogger makes a great database - you can apply labels, create ordered lists, and include images. It is an undertaking, so I thought I'd start creating mine as I buy them... :)
I have this one too, but bought it new (they have it for sale in the yellow envelope on their website right now). It's SO cute in person-- I love their expressions and their hair!!!
Aren't they cute? I thought this pink envelope was one of the much older patterns, but I read on a website that the pink envelopes actually date from the 70's... I'm sure they're bringing back a lot of the older patterns with all the success the vintage stuff has had on Ebay! :)
oh, i love mermaids! too cute!
Are you selling this pattern of Mermaids? I have a friend who collects Mermaid items and this is the first I have seen of something I would want to do....
Thanks.. Char
Gosh,my little girl (7) is crazy about mermaids and would love these! How cute! I will have to hide this from her but if I ever get them I'd make her a purse. I love the Mex. tea towels you made too. I've just learned to embroider and love to embroider for my children (5, 7 and 9). I LOVE your blog! (: and I follow you on bloglines (:
