Hi guys! It's pup time. As promised, I am sharing with you the Pup days of the week patterns. You may recall that they were #2 on your list of requests, after creepy lambs.

This pup is everything I want in a dog - charming, fluffy, resourceful, and helpful. He mends, he dusts, he shops, he does the wash, he even does the ironing! I especially love the gingham-looking lettering for the days of the week - hey if resourceful fluffy pups aren't your thing, you can still stitch the lettering.

As always, let me know if you've stitched this pup, have memories of this pup, or anything noteworthy or totally trivial to share. Enjoy the pups! :)

Ask, and you shall receive... weirdness! The clear winner in the poll for the DOW pattern you wanted to see next was - creepy lambs!

Okay, they're not TOTALLY creepy. I mean, they're a little endearing, if you can ignore the glassy stare, the fact that they only have one tooth, and that they're camped out on your ironing board, knitting you a sock, washing your clothes, baking, and dusting.

Thanks for your responses to the poll! :) Bears tied with Puppies for second place, so I plan to scan those in the coming weeks. Next was Angels, which are pretty adorable, so I'll also share those. Coming in dead last were Poodles. Poor poodles!

Enjoy your creepy lambs - let me know if you stitch them, what you plan to stitch them on or who you're stitching them for. Have an awesome week, you guys! :)floresitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684933322612185834noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1960127589817125050.post-43446232937022037382012-06-25T06:00:00.000-05:002015-03-10T13:47:25.728-05:00Custom pillowcase pattern #2
Hey guys! Back again with more ideas for pillowcases. I started off with a simple cross stitch font and a sweet little bird design. I realize there's a whole host of cute, weird, or funny things you could say on these but I thought the basics would be nice:

This week, I decided to do something a little different... instead of just bringing a few old patterns out of the vault, I decided to combine them to make a new vintage pattern!

I started off with those two images at the top, which are very nice as is, but I thought that together they'd make a really pretty pillowcase pattern. I added a few french knots on the "Hers" pattern, and if you know a "His" who won't mind a pillowcase so thoroughly girlified, you could try the "His" pattern, too:

I like all the detail you could work into this pattern - and if you stitch it, be sure to leave a comment or send me an email, I'd definitely love to see it! :)floresitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684933322612185834noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1960127589817125050.post-79225770908686466582012-06-15T06:01:00.000-05:002012-06-15T06:01:00.339-05:00Dutch Days of the Week

Here's a little Friday freebie for you! In my early days of scanning, I had SO MANY transfers to catalogue, that I never tried to scan a whole set. For peeps who love Days of the Week patterns (like me), that was surely a bummer.

So, I thought I'd scan all of these Dutch girl days of the week patterns for you. I found them unmarked, and they don't look like any transfer pattern companies I'm familiar with - the lines are dark blue, and they're a bit yellow with age. The lines are much simpler and thicker than some of the other patterns I usually scan, but I think she's pretty charming just the same.

Hope you like these, and stay tuned for tomorrow - when you'll see a guest post by Beth about an exciting vintage pattern contest starting soon! :)

Let me formally add this scene to the culturally accurate annals of vintage transfer art. :) What? You've never seen a Mexican woman with a chicken on her head? It's really the best mode of transport, for a chicken. It also keeps one's lunch quite fresh. I also like how the baby has cute creature-from-the-black-lagoon hands. :) Okay, regardless, of these elements I still love this señorita pattern. And the next time I don't know where to put my lunch, I'll be sure to wear it on my head.floresitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684933322612185834noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1960127589817125050.post-40888503885097666422012-06-13T06:00:00.000-05:002012-06-13T06:00:14.976-05:00Crinoline lady #3

This crinoline lady has very pointy hands and a waspish waist, but is charming nonetheless. I'd like to think she's warming up for some really good dance moves.floresitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684933322612185834noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1960127589817125050.post-13871393193135320662012-06-12T06:00:00.000-05:002012-06-12T06:00:06.138-05:00Crinoline lady #2

Here's another crinoline lady for you - she's pretty cute, her slightly vacant stare notwithstanding. :)

And by the way, if you've been having trouble pinning my images to Pinterest I am so sorry! I hadn't visited Pinterest since they added Flickr attribution. The attribution is awesome, but it knocked something out of whack and pinning wasn't working for my stuff. :( But I found the right permission in Flickr and it's fixed now, so, happy pinning! :)floresitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684933322612185834noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1960127589817125050.post-38201131308328669502012-06-11T06:00:00.000-05:002012-06-11T18:13:37.747-05:00Crinoline lady pillowcase

I received a couple of messages from a reader, Phyllis who said she was looking for crinoline ladies. Now I'll warn you I am usually pretty pokey about responding to such requests, it's not that I don't want to - it's just finding the time! :) But I just happened to have crinoline ladies on the brain so trotted out to my garage to see what I could find...

I found this cute girl as part of a large pillowcase pattern below - my sheet was very fragile and I got a couple of small tears while scanning - but not in vain as I am finally sharing her with you guys! :)
I think what I love most about this pattern is the peculiar, cute way this señorita is curling her toes. :) Another one from my vintage vault for you!floresitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684933322612185834noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1960127589817125050.post-35654891922824987322012-06-08T05:14:00.000-05:002012-06-08T13:18:17.418-05:00Sweet deer
Here's another one from the archives - I've been cleaning up some transfers that were unavailable in my stream for awhile, and I'll be posting them bit by bit up here. I also added a bit of navigation at the top and along the sides - hopefully that'll help you comb through my patterns...floresitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684933322612185834noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1960127589817125050.post-29218267115663261372012-06-05T06:03:00.000-05:002012-06-08T11:09:07.280-05:00Same Old Grind
Here's a cutie from the archives! Phew! It is tough work being enough of a multi-tasker to remember to post in 3 places. I'm brainstorming some ideas for managing that, so stay tuned. In the meantime, enjoy this pooch! :)floresitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684933322612185834noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1960127589817125050.post-39157526999472192122012-03-15T21:11:00.001-05:002012-03-15T21:11:30.035-05:00Sweet stove
Hey guys! Here I am again with another little goodie from my collection. Sweetness, no? Roses or poppies, depending on how you look at 'em. I think these would make a pretty pillowcase set with last week's lillies... Yes, your eyes don't fool you - it's an actual post! From me! On this blog! :) I've been thinking through the aims of this particular blog a lot, and I'm debating which direction to take it. I've been so busy on Feeling Stitchy and my personal blog, that I haven't dedicated much time here.

While I decide, I'll be re-arranging this site a bit to make the actual patterns easier to find. Hope you enjoy this one! These lovely calla lilies always make me think of Frida Kahlo - they'd be gorgeous on a set of pillowcases, don't you think? :)floresitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684933322612185834noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1960127589817125050.post-2615102780909205062010-05-21T06:30:00.003-05:002010-05-21T09:46:35.178-05:00Can't stop the cat cleaning
So, you want a cat that does your cleaning? Good luck with that. I share an apartment with two cats and I've yet to bust them with a handkerchief and mop. But I have busted them doing.... other things. Like ralphing on my door jamb and dragging their rear across the freshly mopped floor. Maybe I just need a little more brandy? Then I suppose I'll be seeing all kinds of stuff!

I've stitched two of these "lucky" kittens - the Monday and Tuesday designs. There are 7 large kitten patterns for each day of the week - their bodies are comprised of big cross-stitches. There are two smaller patterns that work well as potholders, and another rectangular image with two kittens that says good luck that would be cute as a framed sampler. My set is 1 complete, uncut sheet.floresitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684933322612185834noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1960127589817125050.post-52519411220513833442010-04-07T06:02:00.001-05:002010-04-07T14:19:34.410-05:00All the popular girls have tomato escorts
free pattern - click to get larger size and print!

Yeah, I know my titles are getting weirder and weirder. Maybe it's the heat? Out of nowhere, it is 89 degrees in Manhattan. To give you a clue of how this feels, I haven't moved in about 20 minutes, I am drinking an iced drink and I am still sweating. In places that don't seem like they should sweat.

In any case, back to the transfers!

This gem was donated to me by the lovely Robin - it's a set that is cut but looks complete - 4 motifs for tea towels say "Breakfast", "Lunchtime", "Teatime", and "Dinnertime." Also a "Glasses" towel and a chubby-cheeked tot with an immense dinner knife that says "Silver."

And finally, my favorite, which I've included above - a horrified girl being escorted by a carrot with a cane and a jaunty tomato who tips his hat at her. (I removed the carrot to conserve space and somewhat lessen her psychological damage.) Two smaller potholder designs - a cross-stitch teacup and a big, sweetly smiling tomato. Thanks Robin!
floresitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684933322612185834noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1960127589817125050.post-57197746885357988292010-03-04T05:45:00.007-05:002010-03-04T16:06:42.627-05:00Can you handle the cute? Can you?
free pattern - click to get larger size and print!

It's a cat in a shoe, peeps. Do I really need to say more? Okay, maybe I do. The cat is fluffy, and it's kitten-sized. It's wearing a ribbon, rather elegantly tied around its fluffy neck. It's curled up in a high-heeled pump. With daisies on it. If that didn't just hit you with cute like an 18 wheeler full of Peeps, I don't know what will.

This reminds me of a fascinating conversation that went down on Feeling Stitchy last week, in which I realized I am guilty of a double standard. If this kitty were cross-stitched, I would have no use for her. I would find her tawdry and silly and excessively sweet. Like, I'm wearing pink lace and I've got-you-in-a-chokehold, sweet. But, as an embroidery pattern, I find her kitschy and retro and silly and cute. Her cute is pretty powerful, but I can handle her cute. Am I alone here? Crazy? Feel free to chime in on this... :)

Also on this sheet are two large floral patterns for pillowcases, neither of which are as seriously, crazily cute as this kitten, however. My sheet is unused and uncut. The owner wrote, in ballpoint pen on the front of the envelope, "Jan 11-62".
floresitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684933322612185834noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1960127589817125050.post-53184212708800493812010-03-01T06:48:00.002-05:002010-03-01T15:07:42.596-05:00This pup does underpants
free pattern - click to get larger size and print!
flipped

I really like the idea of your pets doing household chores for you. Take, for instance, my handwashing last evening. How helpful it would have been if I had had an adorable puppy to hang my underpants on a clothesline. Not that I can fit a clothesline in my 7 X 10 room... well, unless I want wet underpants dripping on my head. And early this morning, when it came time to blow dry my underpants (they had not dried overnight, due, no doubt, to the lack of a clothesline, and a pup to hang them up properly) I'm sure pups would have cheerfully sprung to my aid. And, he could have even changed the fuse when my blow drier shorted out my ancient outlet. Again.

Puppy dreams aside... on my sheet are 7 helpful pups designs. Also a cute pup in a window, for an apron, and 4 small motifs for potholders. This is the oldest looking of a large batch of transfers I bought on Ebay. The envelope is very tattered, and torn along one side. My sheet is cut and partially used.

Have you stitched one of these pups? Or, better yet, do you have a pup that can help with my household chores? Preference will be given to pups that know how to launder underpants. Thank you.

floresitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684933322612185834noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1960127589817125050.post-56640250462161700682010-02-22T06:06:00.003-05:002010-02-22T13:59:32.895-05:00Go take a bath
free pattern - click to get larger size and print!
flipped

I'm not a huge fan of baths myself, but I am fond of telling others to take a bath. Why not let this poodle assist? This set originally had 6 poodle days of the week designs for kitchen or tea towels (some days of the week sets don't include Sunday, it seems, since it was a day of rest.) There are two smaller designs for potholders - one with the poodle saying "Don't Burn Your Paws"! :) Also a design for a Mixer and Toaster cover. I can't get over the poodle in a turban, mopping and scrubbing, or sporting cute glasses to do her sewing.

My set is cut and incomplete - I'm missing the Mixer and Toaster cover and the Saturday design. I don't know, but there's nothing like the delightful spectacle of two veggies dancing to give me that loving feeling. You can keep your romantic comedies, Hollywood! Dancing veggies is where it's at.

On my sheet are 3 large dancing vegetable designs: "Vegetable Polka", "Garden Waltz," and the "Vitamin Ballet." Also three dancing crockery motifs - a spoon, teacup, and wineglass all bear polka-dotted skirts and happy grins, representing "Silver," "China", and "Glass." There are 3 large cross-stitch motifs that also say "Silver," "China", and "Glass." Finally, there's a small singing tomato motif that says "Hot Pots", a posing green bean and 6 tiny dancing veggies that would make an adorable border for a table runner.

Two motifs are cut out but appear unused - the rest of the sheet is intact and unused. I may be missing one of the tiny dancing veggie designs, it's hard to tell.

Any of you stitched these veggies before? I mean - I believe in true love and all that, but my skin really crawls when people get all schmoopy on each other. In public. But with birds, a little schmoopiness, you know - it's totally acceptable. So, in honor of that totally overblown, give-me-a-reason-to-fight-with-you holiday we refer to as Valentine's Day, let me lay some cute PDA on you. You just tell these birds to get a room. They ain't listenin.

Also on this sheet are 3 large designs meant for pillowcases - a cute cat peeping out of a rose or poppy as if it grew there, Cabbage-Patch-like. Also 2 lambs jumping a fence with their little pink tongues hanging out, as if to say "Geez, it's hard work getting you guys to sleep!" And, the lovebirds. Also a few small rose motifs and cross-stitch lettering for Mr, Mrs, Mine and Yours. Wouldn't it be funny, by the way, to decorate your bathroom in a really selfish way by labeling all the towels "Mine" and none "Yours?" Hee hee. Visitors would be baffled. :)

You can tell my pattern has seen better days - tattered, lots of age spots and that telltale "old smell" is so strong it makes me sneeze. (Thank God for plastic sleeves.) Also, my sheet is incomplete - I'm missing the kitty peeping out of the rose.

Here's the big old version of those birdies, suitable for a nice pillowcase:

free pattern - click to get larger size and print!

I stitched this baby for my sister a couple of years back:

By the way, I dunno why I put a big old copyright floresita on there. The baker pattern was hereby christened, "Baker got back." See, I don't even have to come up with this stuff. I rely on you guys for the really good ones. :) Also on my sheet, there's a teacup-headed baseball player "stepping up to the plate" (har, har), a smiling flour canister making eyes at a scoop, cross stitch borders and veggies, salt and pepper shakers and salad dressing, smiling milk and mixing bowl, and moustachioed frying pan brandishing a faceless frankfurter while a horrified egg looks on, (whoa, violence galore on this one!) a baking girl that says "Bake on Saturday", and a mammy-looking pattern with a cake. By the way, thank you to my stitching friend Drewzel, for sending me the rest of this pattern!
floresitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12684933322612185834noreply@blogger.com6
